Dr. Oladele O. Campbell

Dr. Oladele O. Campbell is a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Niger State Polytechnic, Zungeru, Nigeria — a department he founded with other colleagues and led as pioneer Head of Department from 2008 to 2012. With over three decades of experience in computing education, administration, and research, he earned a PhD in Computer Science Education from University of South Africa (2022), following earlier degrees in Computer Science — an MSc (2003) and BSc (1994) from University of Ibadan.

Dr. Campbell was recognized as an ACM Senior Member in 2021 and was appointed to the Regional Advisory Committee for ACM CompEd 2025. Dr. Campbell's research sits at the intersection of computing education, novice programming, and equity — with a particular focus on African higher education contexts. His 2025 paper on the impostor phenomenon among Nigerian computing students received the Best Paper Runner-Up award at the ACM Global Computing Education Conference in Gaborone, Botswana.

      Research Participation Portal

      A multi‑study web platform for computing education research. Enables researchers to deploy custom studies with surveys, pre/post‑tests, interactive puzzles, bilingual instruction, weekly reflections, automatic resume, and certificate generation. Currently hosts three active studies, with a flexible architecture that supports both JSON‑driven configuration and custom extensions for advanced study designs.

      • AlgoLadder – bilingual computational thinking tutor with pre/post‑tests and a 7‑day delayed post‑test. Participants learn algorithm design through scaffolded puzzles.
      • Impostor Phenomenon – survey‑only study (Clance IP Scale, MSLQ, engagement & belonging) adapted to the Nigerian context from an international multi‑institutional study led by Prof. Andrew Petersen (University of Toronto Mississauga).
      • Professional Dispositions – new study examining collaborative, meticulous, persistent, and self‑directed behaviours. Features a pre‑survey, four weekly time‑locked reflections (each with Likert and open‑ended questions), and a post‑survey. Completed studies are automatically filtered from the "My Certificates" page until all phases are done.
      • Recent enhancements: weekly reflection time‑locking with DD/MM/YYYY date display for Nigerian participants; dynamic institution/programme drop‑downs (with fallback lists); robust resume logic that restores reflection week and post‑survey answers; inline certificate download/print handlers for reliable operation across all studies.
      • JSON‑driven study configurations for standard survey and puzzle studies; the platform is extensible to support custom phases (e.g., weekly reflections) with minimal code additions.
      • Global registration, automatic resume across sessions, admin dashboard with statistics, enrolment control, and email reminders.
      • Ethics‑ready: consent, anonymisation, randomisation, attention checks.
